Naturalization Interview Document Checklist

 

Please bring originals of each of these documents to your USCIS interview. If the document is not in English, please bring the translation in addition to the original document. Please also bring one copy of each document.

 

  1. Your N-400 interview appointment notice;
  2. Your Alien Registration Card (Green Card);
  3. Your current passport (if you have one);
  4. Any previous passports that you have had since you became a Permanent Resident;
  5. Any Travel Permits issued to you by USCIS since becoming a U.S. Permanent Resident;
  6. State-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license (if you have one). If you have moved but have not updated the address on your ID, you should update your ID address before the interview.
  7. Your Birth Certificate;
  8. If you have changed your name since becoming a U.S. Permanent Resident, your name-change document, such as Marriage Certificate, Court Order for Name Change, Adoption Decree, or other name-change document;
  9. Evidence of Selective Service registration (If you are male, over 18, and were living in the United States between your 18th and 26th birthday as a Permanent Resident, without status, or in any status other than as a valid lawful nonimmigrant);
  10. Marriage Certificate (if married);
  11. Divorce Order, Death Certificate, or other appropriate document showing the termination of any prior marriages (if previously married);
  12. Federal Income Tax Returns and W-2s or 1099’s, or IRS Income Tax Transcripts, for the past 5 years (or for past 3 years if applying as the spouse of a U.S. citizen);
  13. Spouse’s Birth Certificate (if applying as the spouse of a U.S. citizen);
  14. Proof that your spouse is a U.S. citizen, such as (if applying as the spouse of a U.S. citizen):
    1. U.S. Birth Certificate;
    2. Certificate of Naturalization;
    3. Certificate of Citizenship;
    4. Certificate of Report of Birth Abroad; or
    5. U.S. Passport (biometrics and signature pages) (the other documents are preferable over using a U.S. passport);
  15. Proof that you have been living with your U.S. citizen spouse for the past three years, such as (if applying as the spouse of a U.S. citizen):
    1. IRS Tax Return Transcripts showing joint filing for past 3 years;
    2. IRS Income Tax Returns and W-2’s filed showing joint filing for past 3 years;
    3. Joint bank account statements;
    4. Joint leases;
    5. Joint mortgages; and/or
    6. Birth Certificates for children;
  16. Birth Certificates for any children;
  17. Proof of membership in U.S. Armed Forces or Discharge Certificate (if applicable);
  18. Certified Court Disposition and Police Reports for ANY arrests, criminal charges, or citations;
  19. List of any trips you have taken outside the United States since your naturalization application was filed, including the following information for each trip:

           a) the dates you left the United States;

           b) the dates you reentered the United States; and

           c) the countries that you visited during each trip.
